Looking For A People Mover? Look No Further Than A Honda
Cars like the Honda Odyssey became a hit with bigger families everywhere for their huge practical benefits, safety features, fuel economy and performance. More importantly, it no longer conjured images of a delivery van.
The 2018 Honda Odyssey
With each new model, the Odyssey continues to improve every aspect of the Odyssey, from performance and safety to convenience and comfort. A 2.4-litre four-cylinder, producing 129kW and 225Nm makes for a cruisy, comfortable drive. It comes in two specifications: the VTi and the VTi-S. Both come with a range of features, including: ● 17 inch alloys ● Multi zone climate control ● Remote central locking ● Reversing camera ● Cruise control ● Auto headlights ● Six speaker stereo ● Power windows ● Folding heated mirrors ● Leather steering wheel The Odyssey has a five star ANCAP safety rating with six airbags including curtain airbags that stretch the entire length of the car. You also have stability and traction controls, ABS, two ISOFIX points in the middle row and three top-tether anchorages. Extras that come with the VTi-S include a rear cross traffic monitor, blind spot information system and a smart parking assist system.
How Good is the Space?
The secret to the Odyssey has always been the flexible, comfortable cabin which feels more like a car than a van. Boasting 7 or 8 seats while offering convenience and handy space features, you can slide, fold and remove seats according to your needs. Your passengers can enjoy pop out trays, USB ports and cup holders. Boot space starts at 330 litres with all seats in place. Fold the rear seats and the boot expands to between 1332 litres to 1672 litres depending on how much space you leave for the middle row occupiers. Drop all of the rear seats and you have 1867 litres.
There’s an old joke that if you want to be a car specialist mechanic, you should do your apprenticeship on a make other than Honda, as you’ll have a tough time making a living working on cars that rarely break down. So long as your Odyssey is well maintained and serviced to the book, you can count on a good run for very long time. The Odyssey is dependable for a number of reasons. It’s built to last, good to drive, and the interior space is cleverly fitted into a relatively small outer body, meaning a city-dwelling family can still enjoy a spacious wagon without struggling to drive in tighter city areas.
