Collins Honda

Honda is a champion and pioneer when it comes to the development of sustainable vehicles. This is because Honda values the landscapes in which we live our lives and wants to hand down our beautiful earth to the next generation. This commitment to our community and sustainability goes from the top of the Honda hierarchy right down to the local level, resulting in pioneering development from our engineers and local charity initiatives. Here at Collins Honda, we believe in giving back to the community that has given us so much. Collins Honda is a founding member of the Honda Foundation which, since its establishment in 1992, has disbursed over $8.1 million in grants to various bodies and charities across Australia – from donations aimed at sustainable development, humanitarian and disaster relief to donations aimed at preserving and promoting the unique Australian culture. When it comes to sustainable auto-engineering, Honda is on top. Let’s take a look at a few of our exciting environmentally friendly vehicles.

Honda Civic Hybrid

The Honda Civic Hybrid, first launched in 2001, was one of the pioneering cars in sustainable technology, combining a traditional internal combustion engine with an electric propulsion system. This allowed the Civic Hybrid to be 40% more fuel efficient than its non-hybrid counterpart. In 2006, it won the award for “World Car of the Year” in the “Greenest Car” category.

Honda Civic GX (Natural Gas)

Honda led the way in natural gas auto-technology in the United States with its Honda Civic GX. The only car available to regular private customers that ran entirely on compressed natural gas, the Honda Civic GX is an example of pioneering technology accounting for local resources. As a result, it won the award for “Greenest Vehicle of the Year” multiple times from The American Council for An Energy-Efficient Economy.

Honda Accord

The 2014 Honda Accord won the award for “Green Car of the Year”, sponsored by the Green Car Journal since 2005. Three models of the Accord (Accord, Accord Hybrid, and Accord Plug-in Hybrid) were all nominated “Green Car of the Year”. The commitment Honda shows to developing cleaner and more efficient vehicles across its entire range comes from Honda’s commitment to environmental and engineering excellence.
